What's special at SIGNS?

SIGNS is a 150-seater upper casual dining & bar restaurant which is staffed with deaf servers.
This means that as a diner you will have to place your order using sign language too.
With a modern ambiance and decor, the restaurant is probably a place that people will try at first for the experience, but the
experience will be complented by the quality of the menu and service.
The reviews by visitors on sites such asYelp, Urban Spoon and Trip Advisor are really promising. 87% of Urban Spoon's diners like it, with reviews referring to the atmosphere as fun and comfortable and the Canadian menu, a feast for the eyes. |

The story behind SIGNS
The unique concept started from SIGNS' founder Anjan Manikumar when working in another restaurant a few years earlier.
There was a deaf customer who regularly visited the pizza restaurant that Anjan was managing.
During these visits, Anjan noticed that staff couldn't offer a real personal experience to this customer, so Anjan learned some basic sign language to communicate better with the customer.
His effort was received so well that it gave him the idea to create an a venue where the deaf community would feel just as comfortable as everyone else, but not only that, a place where the regular public could experience sign language and interact openly with the deaf community!
We feel this is an incredible doozy initiative that will benefit all parties involved, and would love to see more of this type of restaurants coming up not just in Canada but around the world.
Sign language is an amazing tool that breaks the barrier of sound. Literally. So next time you are in Toronto, please go to SIGN to enjoy both ravishing food and the dining experience like no other.
