If I were to tell you two little words like "Saint Tropez" what would you think?

Your mind would probably run to that pretty little town on the French Riviera that since the 1920's has been a popular vacation for illustrious names and personalities.

December 4th was the official opening of Saint Tropez Bistro`, the restaurant, at the Mall of the Emirates and I paid a visit.
Mall of the Emirates, it's a beautiful landmark in Dubai, but at times it can take the toll on you, because unlike other malls it doesn't have any restaurants filled with natural sun light. That's until now, because upon enteringSaint Tropez  Bistro`, the first thing you will notice are the big draped west facing windows, that let in plenty of sunlight and immediately create an ambiance that's elegant and energetic.
Saint Tropez Bistro` is divided in two separate areas: one is a bar lounge, which is the only licensed smoking lounge in a mall, and where you can enjoy a delicious finger food menu, the other is the  main dining area.

In the restaurant, tones of cream and magnolia are tastefully covering the walls and fittings, with added little accents of color brought by the exposed brick work, wood and and white prints of cinema stars that give just the right touch of classy vintage. This beautiful and elegant picture that is kind to your eyes is completed by the sweet melodies of French music.

The menu will appeal to a variety of tastes but make no mistake: this is a menu that will entice the most French of palates.
Traditional dishes such as Foie Gras, Snails, Frogs legs are all present. The less adventurous can indulge on salads, different cuts of steaks, and among other favorites, a wonderfully juicy Roasted Chicken that should come with the warning of bringing a healthy appetite, because the portion is very generous!

I was completely spoiled by Chef John Strauss who told us how he is very excited to expand his cooking repertoire by executing the menu at St Tropez Bistro`.

On the starters list I tried "Rilletes" which is potted duck with a plum chutney and cornichons and the exquisite "Foie Gras", seared duck liver with an apple and ginger compote.  

Both appetisers were incredibly smooth, with a flavour that perfectly balanced all corners of the palate without overpowering it.

Following these, I was presented with the pride and joy of Saint Tropez Bistro`: the "Bouillabaisse". 

Whilst Chef John explained that this dish is completely made from scratch by creating the lobster and fish stock and then reducing it slowly to the desired thickness, the aromas evaporating from this signature dish were incredible. 
I have no doubt that this dish will be a favourite among the diners.

To break the tempo of the Bouillabaisse's powerful flavors, I tried a Niçoise salad with freshly seared tuna and a whole list of  mouth melting ingredients.

Next I tried the "Duck Confit" a crispy leg of duck with white bean cassoulet and red wine jus that revoked memories of those delicious hearty dinners mum used to cook.
Completing this marathon of  gusto were 2 dessert that would put a smile on anyone's face, particularly ours! A "Pavlova" with whipped cream and fresh berries and a "Dark Chocolate Mousse" that with 70% cocoa that are guaranteed to give you energy for the rest of the day!

Throughout the meal a constant theme of delicate smoothness blended all the dishes, and gave us an incredible enthusiasm about St Tropez Bistro`. 

What's more, is that the elegant and classy ambiance and fine superior dining are not reflected on the costs. The prices are pleasantly affordable and I passionately invite you to try Saint Tropez Bistro` because I know you won't be disappointed!
