It is no secret that I love tea and have a special liking forhigh tea, so when I heard aboutConrad Dubai launching their Afternoon Tea that offers fine blends as those of TWG, it took no effort in convincing me to try it.
However, this was no ordinary afternoon tea...
Discovering blends with TWG

We had the pleasure of being talked through some of the finest TWG blends.
TWG Tea was established in Singapore in celebration of the island’s great history as a trading post for Teas and now offers over 800 fine teas and blends in collaboration with the world’s most well-known estates in India, Nepal, Ceylon, China, Japan and Africa among other locations.
I particularly liked being able to smell the blends, something that normally wouldn't happen. But, I asked myself: Why can't it happened?
Choosing your blend by scent is what should be done when serving afternoon tea.
I much rather select an aroma with my nose than with my eyes, i.e. by reading the ingredients off a menu.
Very often you don't really remember the flavor of a particular ingredient or perhaps you never tried it, so unless you are a bit adventurous, you will stick to what you know. It's human nature after all.
If instead, you could smell the blend, you may try something different. And TWG has so many to choose from that it becomes quite an interesting game! Perhaps this suggestion might give Conrad some idea, if so, I think it will be successful and add a different sensory layer to the experience.
Conrad Dubai's Afternoon Tea:
understanding your customers

I must say that I like Conrad Dubai very much, and no, I'm not being bribed to say this!
It's a hotel that's more oriented towards the business traveler, but it will comfortably cater to any type of traveler who is seeking style, class and indulgent comforts.
The reason why I like the hotel is because beside being elegant, strategically located and offering outstanding service, it also seems to put real thinking into its offerings, and I like intelligent moves!
Very often you find hotels which launch new promotions, but once you analyze them, they aren't that well thought, let alone being value for money.
Just recently, for instance, I visited a known Dubai hotel who reopened their lobby's cafe after months of refurbishment. I had afternoon tea there a few times in the past with family and friends: it was lovely and affordable, however I was shocked to see that now the price for afternoon tea had almost doubled and whilst before was charged per couple now it's per person . No need to say, that I won't have afternoon tea there any time soon.
It seems to be the reoccurring fashion in Dubai at the moment, let's charge people ridiculous prices, because we can. I'm sorry but that technique falls short with me.
I am not getting this impression from Conrad Dubai. At the contrary, when I get the opportunity to speak with their team, I feel they put adequate thought into their promotions or new offerings.

Business is all about understanding your customers
Something that Conrad Dubai is thriving on. This Afternoon Tea is a good example.
If you walk into the hotel's lush lobby anytime of the morning or afternoon, you will see often people who meet up for business. Quite classic in a city like Dubai where is quite normal to discuss business over some food or hot beverage. When doing this, you don't want to be spending the price of a brunch, and neither you want to eat so much that you won't be hungry at dinner.
So, understanding its customers Conrad created an afternoon tea that is, in my opinion. perfect on all aspects.

Unlike other Afternoon Teas, this runs from 12 pm to 5 pm, allowing for a greater scope. Whether you want to have Afternoon Tea for lunch or for an afternoon pick-me-up, the timings are fantastic. The servings and price are for 2 people. A selection of mouth-watering finger sandwiches, hors d’oeuvres and pastries like Cucumber, dill cheese cream sandwich, Crab salad en Endives and the Petite Scones. |

The fact that there are business meets, should not affect your decision to come here to enjoy your Afternoon Tea as a leisurely treat.
You can in fact select from two levels of comfortable seating, if the lobby is much of an open space for you, you can seat on the upper level guaranteeing you a more intimate space to relish in the company of your family and friends.
Simply Doozy's thoughts on:
Afternoon Tea at Conrad Dubai
TIMINGS: I loved the extended hours. I lost count of the times I was in a hotel and I would have liked to have Afternoon Tea but I were either too early or too late. So, the 5 hours window offered by Conrad is fabulous!
TEA SELECTION: With a brand such as TWG you can't ever be short of choice. Be adventurous and try exotic blends such as my favorite the Geisha Blossom.
DELICACIES SELECTION: I would not classify this Afternoon Tea as being traditional but rather a bridge connecting the classic English ritual with a subtle French touch. Particularly loved the jelly.
PRICE: 150 AED (40$) for 2 people, it's definitely a value for money considering the finest quality being on offer, and I can only expect when word goes out that it will become a very popular spot in Dubai to have Afternoon tea.
