I have been fascinated with magicians since childhood. And I think there's few people that aren't impressed or left in awe when they see a magic trick performed. I was living in London when David Blaine decided to do his endurance stunt and I still remember walking by the South Bank and seeing him hanging up high in his box and I'd stay there sometime for 15-20 minutes to stare at him with my nose up in the air. Imagine my excitement finding out that...

David Blaine will make his Middle Eastern debut during the Abu Dhabi Summer Season on August 21st - 23rd, 2014.
Blaine is best known for his high-profile feats of endurance, and has made his name as a performer of street tricks and close-up illusions. Each show will feature life-threatening feats, with a death defying grand finale and recently I saw a program where he literally spooked the whole Smith's family so if he is going to perform any of those tricks I KNOW we are in for a treat!!!

The show is hosted at the Emirates Palace the uber-luxurious hotel by Kempinski situated in the West Corniche. Tickets can be purchased on Ticketmaster with tickets starting from AED 200.
Emirates Palace was also offering a show + hotel package starting from 990 AED ($269) however as when I inquired for the night of the 22nd, I found out it was all SOLD OUT.

I opted for the Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana which is literally opposite Emirates Palace.
| Khalidiya Palace, doesn't have a package for the show but if you are planning to stay for 1 night as I am, then it's a more convenient solution, because the Emirates Palace deal forced you to book 2 nights minimum, whilst here you can book only 1 night and you don't compromise on the 5* experience. Personally, I'm a big fan of Rotana hotels. |
I had many good experiences and stays in different hotels and resorts from the UAE to Egypt and I'm sure this time will be just the same.
So, what can you get at the Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana?
You can have a balcony deluxe room with free internet access and buffet breakfast the following morning, for about 727 AED ($197) included of all tax.
I recommend you book with the hotel directly to benefit of the above price and billing at check-out, alternatively you can get the room a bit cheaper at Booking.com but it's pre-pay only and doesn't include breakfast.
All it's booked now I just have to wait to see if it's real or illusion!
