When I think of the year 1992 there are a few personal memories that come to mind like my first kiss, my first visit to the island of Sicily or the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America, etc, but I am sure none of these are of public interest, so I did a little research online about events that marked the year 1992 in order to juggle my memory and I discovered something very interesting.

2 & 3. The assasinations by the Mafia of Sicilian Judges Giuseppe Falcone and Paolo Borsellino" Both Judges spent their early years on the same neighbourhood in Palermo. And though many of their childhood friends grew up in the Mafia, both men fought on the other side of the war as prosecuting magistrates. They were both killed in 1992 a few months apart. 1. It's well known (I hope), that Italian politics are some of the most bizzarre, bureaucratic and corrupted in the world and in 1992, Italy was at the height of curruption where bribes were the deciding factor and motive for jobs or manouvre to take place. This is when Italian prosecutor Antonio Di Pietro began investigating Milan's politicians and business leaders in relation to corruption and kickbacks. The inquiry that Di Pietro led with other magistrates was known as "Mani Pulite" (Clean Hands) which the Italian press knicknamed Tangentopoli (Bribesville).

Events which brought Time Magazine (Issue of November 13, 2006) to name two people as heros of the last 60 years. Seeing that none of these events appearing in the initial pages of Google, told me that you probably have no idea why 1992 is such an important year, and thus it brings me to this very article.

1992 - in TV
The setting was truly a walk down memorie lane, even though the events portrayed aren't so happy, yet, seeing fashion or cars, or hearing songs we grew up with were welcomed memories. As far as the characters go, we liked them and their development. Some of these are direct representation of real people involved in the inquiry or the politics of that year, whilst others are fictionary but inspired by real ones.

There's been a substantial amount of budget spent on this series, and it shows. The result is fantastic, catching and at it quickly turns the 10 episodes into one of those series you don't want to end. We read of rumors that a 1993 and 1994 series are on the way and if those rumors are true, then we can only say one thing: we can't wait!!
